Description

This month LHC physics day is dedicated to various aspects of precision predictions for hard QCD processes at the LHC. The emphasis will be on the determination of uncertainties, coming from the input PDFs and from the scale dependence of the calculations. In the afternoon there will be a session dedicated to computing issues, with a discussion of the main numerical bottlenecks limiting the performance of the existing codes.

The meeting will be broadcast via EVO (detailed info will appear at the time of the meeting in the "Video Services" item on the left menu bar)

For those attending, information on accommodation, access to CERN and laptop registration is available from http://cern.ch/lpcc/visits

This session will focus on code optimization issues. Experts on software performance will be present to learn about the possible needs that emerge from demanding NLO calculations. They will give an overview of available software performance monitoring tools, and illustrate ongoing projects at CERN on multi-core CPU optimization. The goal of the session is to identify possible topics for cooperation towards the improvement of the CPU performance of NLO codes.
