Currency

The baht (THB) is the official currency of Thailand. It is subdivided into 100 satang. In December 2023, 1 CHF is ~40 THB (Link), 1 EUR is ~39THB (Link), and 1 USD is ~35.5 THB (Link).

Thai bank notes and coins have Thai and Arabic numerals, and various series of them with the face of King Bhumibol or King Vajiralongkorn imprinted are both accepted. Please note that a 10 THB coin resembles a 2 EUR coin.

  • Thai bank notes have denominations starting from 20 THB (green), 50 THB (light blue), 100 THB (red), 500 THB (purple), and 1000 THB (brown). The current version of notes is the 17th series with king Vajiralongkorn's portrait. You may find series 15th, 16th, and 16th (special). They can be used in common manners. You can see an example of Thai bank note series here.
  • Thai coins have denominations from 25 satang (0.25 THB), 50 satang (0.50 THB), 1 THB, 2 THB, 5 THB, and 10 THB.
