Mon Repos Palace in Corfu
Corfu (Kerkyra), a part of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), is an island in the eastern part of the Adriatic sea close to the border between Greece and Albania. The Mon Repos Palace is in the historic city of Corfu near the old town and close to Corfu airport.
The palace was built for the British Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian islands in 1831. It was later used by the Greek royal family as a summe residence until the third Greek republic was established in 1974. The palace is now a historic site and museum as well as a meeting centre.
The European Institute for Sciences and Their Applications (EISA) uses the Mon Repos Palace for many of its events. The site has a large lecture hall for the plenary sessions with the usual equipment and several smaller meeting rooms.
Corfu is connected to the major European cities with frequent flights. There are also many connections by ferry from Greece and Italy.
