Challenge 5: Multimodal Health Data Integration as a transformative approach for global smart healthcare, prompted by EATRIS. 

 

Prof. Roel Vermeulen, Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences at Utrecht University

Roel is a leading expert in Environmental Epidemiology and Exposome Science at Utrecht University. He also serves as the Scientific Director of the Institute for Preventive Health (i4PH) within the EWUU alliance. Prof. Vermeulen coordinates several major research initiatives, including the Dutch Exposome program, the EU-funded EXPANSE project, and the AURORA project on micro- and nanoplastics. With over 800 academic publications, he is a prominent figure in international committees like the WHO and the Dutch Health Council.

 

Dr. Sara Zullino, EATRIS

Sara plays a crucial role at EATRIS as she is responsible for supporting the ongoing management and cohesion of the Imaging & Tracing Platform at EATRIS and driving research initiatives that contribute to the development of reliable and impactful AI-powered solutions for clinical decision making.

 

Prof. Miguel-Angel Sicilia, IRYCIS/SERMAS

Miguel-Angel got a degree on Computer Science in 1996 and he obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2003. Currently he is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Alcalá and leads the Data Science Unit at the Research Institute of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital (IRYCIS/SERMAS) in Madrid. He is a leading expert in digital transformation related to health data, as it is evidenced by his role in the EATRISConnect (101130349) HE project.

 

Mr. Anton Ussi, EATRIS

Anton is Operations & Finance Director for EATRIS C&S. Anton Ussi has a background in engineering and SME administration. He is a specialist in the establishment and execution of strategic public-private and public- public collaborations based on the deployment of high value translational research infrastructure for medicine.

 

Dr. Diogo Reis Santos, CERN

Diogo Santos is a Data Scientist at CERN with expertise in data science, machine learning, and computational biology. He is currently focused on developing and deploying federated learning infrastructure for maintaining complex systems, with healthcare applications through European projects. Diogo holds a Ph.D. in Computational Cardiology from UCL.

 

Mr. Manuel Albaladejo, CERN

Manuel is an Industrial Engineer with over 10 years of experience in the Research, Pharma, Telecommunications, and Biotech industries. Currently, he hold a dual role at CERN, working as both a Particle Accelerator Operator for the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) and a Software Developer.

 

Prof. Jana Klanova, Masaryk University

Jana is a professor of environmental chemistry at Masaryk University and the director of RECETOX, a European Centre of Excellence in Environmental Health Sciences. She leads RECETOX RI, a national research infrastructure focused on environmental monitoring, population cohorts, and environmental information systems. Since 2018, she has coordinated EIRENE, a European infrastructure project on the human exposome. Jana collaborates with WHO and UNEP on global toxic exposure assessments and leads the GEO Initiative GOS4POPs.

 

Prof. Marina Pollan,  Instituto de Salud Carlos III

Marina has been recently appointed as the General Director of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) in Spain. Previously, she served as a professor at the National Center for Epidemiology and was the Scientific Director of the Spanish Consortium for Biomedical Research in Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP). She also coordinates the Predictive Medicine axis of the IMPaCT project, focusing on creating a national research cohort.

 

Dr. Angel Alberich-Bayarri, QUIBIM

Angel is founder and director of the company QUIBIM (Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers in Medicine). Telecommunications Engineer with specialization in electronics by the Technical University of Valencia, UPV (2002-2007) and PhD in Biomedical Engineering (2010) by the same university for his research on the application of advanced image processing techniques to magnetic resonance imaging. 

 

Dr. Yuri Pettinicchi, SHARE Berlin Institute

Yuri is the head of the SHARE Questionnaire Development unit at the SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH. During his eight years of experience, he managed 28 country teams across 40 languages. He also served as a task leader in EU projects like SERISS, SSHOC and SoGreen. Yuri holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Venice (2012).
