Description

Aims of the Workshop

In view of the forthcoming delivery of the FCC feasibility study (FS) report in March 2025 and the pre-TDR for a Project decision in 2027, the SY-FCC workshop in October aims at evaluating the SY deliverables to allow the FCC project to:

  • prepare the pre-TDR work, and refine the common understanding of technical objectives and organisation
  • complete the FCC-ee infrastructure definition (underground & surface, including pre-injector)
  • to assess its compatibility with a future FCC-hh machine (tunnel cross-section & space reservation at surface)
  • identify together any important remaining open points for the FS

The FCC project will present the overall timeline, expectations and work organisation.

The SY technical groups will present the WP scope, organisation (including reporting and interfaces), and technical status of their FCC works to be able to deliver the FS and pre-TDR.

Importantly, each team will identify what is missing in terms of resources or input, in particular from other WPs/Groups.

Since the FCC week in mid-2024 provided a comprehensive overview of the technical status of most of the SY activities, it is not foreseen to repeat the detailed technical presentations. Instead, the idea is to focus on how to deliver the FS and pre-TDR information needed on time, and to make sure that the SY Groups and the FCC project have a common and shared understanding of the objectives, priorities, work organisation and challenges to solve together.
