THE CITY

Situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers, Manaus is a Brazilian city, capital of Amazonas state and the main financial, corporate and economic center of northern Brazil. It is a historic city and port, located in the largest tropical forest in the world center. It is one of the most known worldwide, mainly for their tourism potential and ecotourism Brazilian cities, which makes the city the tenth largest tourist destination in Brazil. It stands out for its architectural and cultural heritage, with numerous museums, theaters, temples, palaces and libraries.


Besides a rich booming economy, Manaus also boasts an unrivaled natural biodiversity. The city surprised to demonstrate the dynamics of an urban center, facing the beautiful nature that surrounds you. Manaus stands as a benchmark of ecological education and experience, and also for its cultural diversity, it is difficult to choose among dozens of entertainment, showing the Portuguese, Indian and African facets of its history. TYPICAL CUISINE

With the enormity of the Negro River which skirts the city, Manaus has fish in the highlights of their menus, together with the wide variety of derivatives of cassava that complete the ingredients of regional dishes with indigenous heritage.

By region, Manaus has two areas of concentration of restaurants outside the center. There are renowned restaurants in Adrianople and the Avenue of Tourism (near the beach of Ponta Negra) is a corridor of restaurants, bars and lively nightclubs.

 

CLIMATE

The city of Manaus is located in the heart of the Amazon in one of the wettest regions of Brazil. The city's climate is humid equatorial. Typical of Amazonian forests, this type of climate is characterized by high temperatures, high humidity, lack of ventilation and torrential rains.

Temperature fluctuations are minimal. Maximum temperatures range between 33 ° C in the hottest months of September and October and 30 ° C in the coldest months between January and April. Minimum temperatures are stable at 22 ° C and 23 ° C throughout the year.

USEFUL INFORMATION

It is recommended to take yellow fever vaccine ten days before the trip. Malaria and dengue fever are also common in the region. To protect yourself, always use repellent. When walking in the woods and on the river banks, prefer the long-sleeved blouses and pants.
