Description

In this talk, I will show the realization of U(1) hypercharges with two different formalisms, superconnection and noncommutative geometry(NCG). In both cases, the Standard Model hypercharges are derived instead of being assigned. This is a hint for the underlying relation between superconnection formalism and NCG formalism, both of which interpret the Higgs as a gauge field in the discrete direction, and give similar values of the Higgs mass. Possible extensions to left-right symmetric models are also briefly discussed.
