Sandomierz is one of the oldest Polish cities. It is located on the Cambrian hills on the Vistula bank about 150 km east of Kraków and 100 km north-west of Rzeszów.
The first settlements can be traced down to Neolithic Era. In Middle Ages Sandomierz gained importance and eventually became one of the three sedes regni principales. In XIIIth century after the Tatars invasions a vivid colonisation of the Sandomierz surroundings took place. Later, the city was rebuilt in Renaissance style and the magnificent Old City is preserved till nowadays. Its elevated Market Square with small coffee shops and restaurants is a picturesque spot.
Sandomierz surroundings deliver opportunity for a close contact with nature. Pepper Mountains with their landscape, wild flora and geological preserve are of particular beauty.
