Monday (18/09) evening
Welcome evening with a tasting of regional products (Savoie - Mont Blanc).
Illustrative talk given by Claire BURNET (mountain guide) on how Chamonix evolved from a small farming village into the international cosmopolitan resort it is today. The focus will be on the pioneers of mountaineering, the Golden Age of Mountaineering in the 1860's, the role of the "Compagnie des Guides" and a closer look at key dates of the local history.
Wednesday (20/09) afternoon
At the end of the morning session (12:30), registered participants will receive a bag with some take-away food. Departure times to the excursions are the following:
13:00 departure of the group heading to the Balcon du Mont Blanc trail
13:15 departure of the group going to Martigny (CH)
13:30 departure of the group taking the train to Montenvers
> Option 1: A hike on the Balcon du Mont Blanc trail
> Option 2: Train to Montenvers and the Mer de Glace (valley glacier) with a professional guide
> Option 3: Transport to Martigny (Switzerland) through the scenic road. Visit of the city and of the Fondation Pierre Gianadda that will host a special exhibition with paintings from Cézanne.
