The Invisibles16 Workshop will take place at the "Orto Botanico - Giardino delle Biodiversità", the Botanical Garden of Padova. The "Orto Botanico" hosts about 7,000 plant species and is the oldest academic botanical garden in the world, created in 1545 on the property of the Benedictine monks of St. Justine. More info here.
A map with the location of the venue, recommended hotels and other places of interests can be found here.
The Orto Botanico is at a 30 minutes walking distance from the Padova train station (Stazione FS). Alternatively, one can take the tram (direction Pontevigodarzere --> Capolinea Sud) and exit at the stop "Santo". The Orto Botanico is next to the tram stop, in Via Orto Botanico 15, 35123 Padova. Tram and bus tickets are 1.3 euro (2 euros if purchased on the bus/tram) and are available at the APS office and the ticket machine outside the railway station, as well as at most tobacconist shops in town. Here is the tram schedule.
How to reach Padova
Padova is located about 40 km west of Venice.
--- By Plane
The closest airport to Padova is Venice Airport (VCE), about 40 km East to Padova. Alternative (but smaller) airports are in Treviso and Verona. The airport in Milan has a larger number of international connections; however, getting to Padova from there is at least a 2+ hour trip by train.
From Venice Airport to Padova (see also here) there are various options:
1) Limousine service/Collective taxi. This is the most convenient way to reach Padua. The service will take you from the Airport to any address in Padova, or vice-versa, for about 30 euros one way. It is necessary to make reservations at least 24 hours in advance by web, e-mail, phone or fax. More information can be found at the following links:
-- Landomas
-- Airservice
Discounts in the case of more passengers with the same destination should be arranged directly with the providers of the service.
2) By taxi. The taxi ride can cost around 100€.
3) Bus/train . There are several options in this case. We suggest to visit the trip-planner to find out what is the best for you.
Option 1- (65 minutes) FSBusitalia offers direct rides from Venice Airport to Padova, approximately every hour. The ride takes approximately one hour (depending on traffic conditions).
Option 2-Take the ATVO FLY BUS shuttle to Venezia Mestre railway station (17 minutes), then a train to Padova (15 minutes; click here for schedules and prices). Alternatively, you can reach the Mestre railway station with a ACTV bus, line 15, (17 minutes), then get to Padova by train.
Tickets must be purchased before getting on the bus/train. The frequency is reduced on Sundays. Please plan your trip ahead.
