Travel information

The closest airport to Sintra is Lisboa airport, served by most major airlines including TAP and the low costs Ryannair and Easyjet
http://www.ana.pt/portal/page/portal/ANA/AEROPORTO_LISBOA

Sintra is only ~ 30 km west from the airport, you may spot it when you land, it is in the highest small mountain close by.

The fastest trip from the airport is by car or taxi. Taxi drivers are nicer at the departures than at the arrivals (you have to go 1 floor up in the airport). But taxi costs ~ 30€. If you mentioned your arrival time in your registration, and if other participants arrive at the same time, we will email you and the colleagues who may possibly try to share a taxi with you.

The lowest cost option is to catch the Lisboa metro and a suburban train.

  • To connect the suburban train leaving from Rossio from the airport it is cheaper to catch a city bus serving the airport or a couple of metros ~2 €. In the metro, catch the red line from the airport until the end and then catch the blue line to the Restauradores metro station or the Rossio metro station, in the central historic downtown. In the bus, stop at Rossio (the main square of Lisboa),

  • The suburban Sintra train line ~2 € starts a Rossio, in an old historic train station, between the Rossio and Restauradores squares,

  • The Hotel Sintra Jardim, who will host the meeting, is at 1km walking distance(10 to 15 min walking uphill), of the final station of the suburban Sintra line,

  • If you find the Hotel Sintra Jardim already fully booked, most accommodations we recommend in the overview are either close to the hotel or to the Sintra train station.

Have a nice travel !
