Interlock requirements (Kevin)

  • Reminder of why we're discussing this - incidents where BI instruments did not react in time
  • New request for dI/dT, fast BLM reaction time and position interlock
  • Position interlock for fast extraction cycles in LSS4 and LSS6 maintained (BI software interlock). Need more stability than with existing MOPOS
  • Beam Position excursion interlock proposed starting with BA1 (a few BPMs selected). Could reuse existing CIBU connection (no cabling). More details for interlock functionality required in terms of time and position windows
  • New version of EDMS document being prepared (SPS-B-ES-0005) which takes into account questions and comments received
  • Questions:
    • Latching dI/dT interlock (until reset) or not in case of non-programmed loss of intensity?

Intensity interlock - analogue signals (Patrick)

  • Noise levels (peak-peak) of ~2.5E11 (low gain channel) not far from specifications
  • Need to produce dedicated filter

Intensity interlock - firmware (Tom)

  • Propose to base it on LHC dI/dT solution (FMC on VFC)
  • CIBU rear-transition module produced and available
  • Need to modify VFC firmware and provide new FESA server
  • Need to order new CIBU in BI rack (TE-MPE) (email sent to check possibility)

BLM software changes during LS2 (Steen)

  • Proposal to add more integration windows with interlock thresholds
  • Tests on-going in lab - attempt to test on SPS system with ions still this year

FESA web (Jordi)

  • Web based displays with easy integration (device/property/field from CCDB)
  • Possible to share displays between users
  • Java application available on the technical network only *
  • Web-link: http://bdidev1:8080/fesawebconnector/connector
  • A quick how-to document is under preparation
