The University of Medellin is located on the Carrera 87 # 30-65, near the UdeM Metroplus bus station and Los Molinos shopping centre, in the city of Medellin. Medellin is the capital of the department of Antioquia, the second-largest city in Colombia, is the city of eternal spring, because it has a pleasant climate of around 24°C, has a modern transport system, such as Metro, Metrocable, Metroplus and Tram.
The capital of Antioquia was recognized in 2017 as one of the most innovative cities in the world by the Australian innovation agency 2Piense ahora, being the second time, because in 2013 it was also awarded as the most innovative city in the world by City Group and the Wall Street Journal, in partnership with the Land Urban Institute. In 2016, the city was awarded the most important prize in urban planning, the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, considered the "Nobel of the cities"
