Due to the high production of light mesons J/ψ radiative and hadronic decays, the largest sample of J/psi events accumulated at the BESIII detector offers a
unique laboratory to study the light mesons spectroscopy and search for the light exotic states. In this talk, we shall report the recent progresses on the light meson spectroscopy achieved at BESIII.
