The IVth  ALICE-India school on Quark-Gluon plasma is being organized by the ALICE-India Collaboration during 08-20 November 2021. Bose Institute Kolkata is hosting this school in virtual mode. The school primarily aims at providing the basic knowledge and techniques necessary for carrying out physics analyses and research in the experimental high energy physics (EHEP) collaborations.  Following topics will be covered in this school: Standard Model, QGP-Theory, QGP-Experiment, Relativistic Kinematics, Statistical Methods & Error analysis, PID in EHEP, ALICE detectors, Making of detector, Root & Analysis framework, Event Generators, Machine Learning, Accelerators, Hydrodynamics and Relativistic Hydrodynamics and Instrumental effects and Unfolding. It includes hands-on sessions and special lectures also. The speakers are experts in the field and are invited from reputed Institutes and Universities across the country and from abroad.

44 Special lecture: Study the QCD Phase Structure in High-Energy Nuclear Collisions

First principle quantum chromodynamics (QCD) calculations predicted a smooth crossover for the phase transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadron gas at vanishing baryon density [1]. At finite baryon density, QCD inspired model calculations have postulated the nature of first-order for the phase transition [2]. The end point of the first-order phase boundary is the critical point of strong interactions. High-energy nuclear collisions provided a unique opportunity for studying the QCD phase structure in particular for the searching for the illusive critical point. Heavy-ion collisions from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) cover a wide range of the center of mass energy from 5400 GeV to 3 GeV that corresponding to the baryonic chemical potential from ~ 0 to 750 MeV. Since 2010, STAR Collaboration has undertaken the beam energy scan program (3 –39 GeV) at RHIC [3] in order to understand the QCD phase structure at the region with finite baryon density.

In this talk, I will present selected results on the physics of collectivity as well as the criticality based on experimental data from Pb+Pb collisions at LHC and Au+Au collisions at RHIC. Physics implications of these results and future prospects, especially the QCD phase structure at the high baryon density region,will be discussed.

48 Special lecture: Theoretical description of momentum anisotropies in small systems

I will recap what we have learned from small system collisions at LHC and RHIC with focus on nucleon substructure and the role of premordial momentum anisotropies on the measured momentum anisotropies. I will then argue for the need to extend theoretical descriptions to go beyond boost invariance. I will show two examples to achieve this, one which extends the IP-Glasma model to include a rapidity dependence via small-x evolution, and another that models a fully dynamical 3+1D initial state suitable for the description of lower energy collisions.

52 Special lecture: The Electron Ion Collider: Physics Opportunities and Experimental Challenges

Abstract:
In January 2020, the US Department of Energy approved the construction of the Electron Ion Collider (EIC) based on the hadron beam facility already existing at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) to be augmented with an electron beam facility to be built in the same tunnel. Planning of the construction is underway now, and construction is expected to begin around 2024, with first collisions between 2030-2031. Collaborations are being formed around three different detector designs with aspirations to realize two of them in the possible two experimental interaction regions. In this talk I will review the compelling science of the EIC and present an overview of the experimental challenges including the current status and anticipated path to realization. The talk will be aimed at early career scientists, both experimentalists and theorists to indicate their importance to the EIC Project.
