All papers will be submitted and double-blind reviewed through the Morressier system gracefully made available to us by IOP Publishing.

Reviewing process
- The result of the first round of reviewing can be accept, resubmit, or reject.
- When asked for a resubmission a second round of reviewing will take place which will result in accept or reject.
- After this process the publisher retains the right to decline any papers that are considered inappropriate for publication papers including papers which infringe third party rights, contain libellous or unlawful statements. This check thus takes place after the reviewing process and may cause your paper to be rejected.
Publications
Once accepted, your paper will be considered for one of the three following publications:
- SPRINGER: Between 10% and 20% of the best accepted papers from the GIREP-EPEC Leiden conference will be selected for chapters in the Springer book series Challenges in Physics Education: indexed in Scopus (see bottom of the referred to page). If your paper, based on reviewers' recommendations, is selected for the Springer book you will be requested to reformat your paper according to the book's formatting guidelines after the end of the reviewing process.
- EJMSTE: Next, accepted papers from the conference related to the GIREP Thematic Group: Teaching and Learning Quantum Physics may be selected for a special issue of the Eurasia Journal of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education, indexed in Scopus: see link. This special issue is created in the light of United Nations' International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. If your paper is selected for this special issue, you will be requested to reformat your paper according to their format after the end of the reviewing process.
- JPCS: Last, the remainder (the bulk) of accepted papers from the GIREP-EPEC Leiden conference will be published open access in IOP Publishing Journal of Physics: Conference Series (JPCS). JPCS is indexed in Scopus, as well as EI Compendex and Inspec: see link. IOP Publishing Conference Series is not covered by Science Citation Index (proceedings journals are not indexed in SCI, they are indexed within a separate database, the CPC-I); this means that JPCS is not issued with an Impact Factor.
Eligible papers and sizes
- The paper must be based on a presented contribution at the conference. Accepted contributions that have not been presented are not eligible.
- All contribution types (presented live or remotely) are eligible
- Plenary talks (indication of 15 pages)
- Symposia:
- Joint symposia papers (up to 14 pages), or
- Individual symposia contributions (up to 10 pages)
- Workshops (up to 10 pages)
- Panel discussions (up to 10 pages)
- Oral presentations (up to 10 pages)
- Poster presentations (up to 8 pages)
- References are included in page limits.
- For symposia, the symposium organizer, after consulting the participants, decides whether the submission will be joint or individual. It cannot be both.
Format
- We only accept PDF format. You will be required to upload 2 versions of your paper: one version with authors' details according to the template and a second anonymized version.
- Formatting follows the IOP Publishing JPCS guidelines. On that page you can also find the latest versions for Word and LaTeX templates from which the PDF can be created. Add your ORCID ID and affiliation to each author's name in the following manner: Paul LOGMAN0000-0003-0699-9399, 1. Of course, replace my name and ORCID ID with yours. If you do not have an ORCID ID yet, you may apply for one here.
- It is the sole responsibility of the authors to adhere to the format as the editors do not have access to do any formatting of papers. The paper may be rejected or returned to the authors if the format is not followed.
Policy on the use of generative AI tools
- There are many responsible and appropriate uses for generative AI within scholarly research and we support authors using it in this manner. When doing so, authors are encouraged to be transparent about their use of any generative AI tools in either the research or the drafting of the manuscript. Authors are also encouraged to maintain records of previous drafts, as well as any prompts used in the editing or generation of material within their manuscript. Here is the form that can be used by the authors to declare any AI use in their work:

We hope to speed up the process of publication of the conference proceedings. We also try not to interfere with deadlines for the next conference. That means that the deadlines for submission and reviewing have been moved forward.
