      AUG/AUL status EHN1 & EHN2

      AUG & AUL Status – EHN1 & EHN2

      EHN1

      AUG – no changes;

      AUL – The planned removal of the buttons (requested by BE/EA and agreed with EP & HSE) did not take place during the YETS due to a shortage of manpower in EN/EL. As a result, all the buttons identified for removal (all beamlines + counting rooms in EHN1 with the exception of NP, GIF++ and NA61) will now be removed at the next YETS (25/26) by Marcin and his team.

      This leaves us with the issue of the AUL link between GIF++ and H8 which we should assume affects both the H8B and H8C control rooms. To answer Maarten’s question, I do not have a definitive list of AUL in the EHN1 control rooms, and unfortunately these are not itemised in the relevant ECR (EDMS 3178530). I propose to schedule an ‘AUL reset training’ with Maarten after the H8 user meeting tomorrow, where I will be present.

      NA61 – A problem was identified after an AUL trip last year in an unrelated counting room on the Jura side of EHN1 that cut the IP telephone service to the NA61 control room. Thanks to help from EN/EL and IT/CS this has now been resolved and the fault followed by TIOC (Fault / 158346) is marked as closed. The system has been re-tested and there are no major issues.

      EHN2

      AUG – the installation of additional AUG buttons is currently in progress this week, under supervision from Marcin, with the target completion date of the 4th April. This activity comprises only the physical installation, the buttons will be covered up and marked until they can be put into service and tested. The testing activity will carry some risk, as when EN/EL has shunted the EHN2 AUG chains for work in the past, there have still been some trips on the 18kV network. Once the installation is complete, I will coordinate to see if we can find a suitable slot before the Amber operations with Hydrogen to complete the testing and put these AUG into service. The scheduling of this activity depends on agreement from EN/EL, finding a suitable time in the run schedule where any disruption is minimised and would have to be approved by TIOC.

      AUL – the removal of the AUL in EHN2 is dependent upon the new AUG buttons being put into service. All defective AUL in EHN2 have been identified and have a cover directing users to the nearest AUG.
