Joint Snowmass-EuCARD/AccNet-HiLumi LHC meeting 'Frontier Capabilities for Hadron Colliders 2013'
→
Europe/Zurich
40/S2-D01 - Salle Dirac (CERN)
Lucio Rossi
(CERN),
William Barletta
Description
With the discovery of a Higgs boson at ~125 GeV, the worldwide high-energy physics community is investigating possible next steps for entering a new domain in physics. Among the most powerful tools to do so are hadron colliders that go beyond the LHC reach.
This workshop aims to take stock of the work done for the so-called High Energy LHC (HE-LHC) or the newly discussed Very High Energy LHC (VHE-LHC), and bring the community together for a discussion on various options. The workshop will review both p-p and p-pbar collisions options, and will try identify the critical needs for accelerator R&D, the interface with detectors, and possible cost scaling.
The workshop is by invitation only (ask the organizers for an invitation), and the outcome of this workshop will be used as input for the U.S. Snowmass 2013. Participants shall take care of the relevant authorization from their hierarchy and of financial support, except when otherwise agreed with the organizers.
Organizing Committee
William Barletta, Marco Battaglia, Markus Klute, Soren Prestemon, Lucio Rossi, and Frank Zimmermann.
