Things to do in Galveston

Located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Galveston is one of the oldest cities in Texas and briefly served as the capital for the years Texas was a republic. The weather in April is perfect for any outdoor activity with averages highs and lows being 75F (25C) and 65F (18C) respectively. The hotel is located right on the beach and within walking distance of the pleasure pier, and various restaurants.

Downtown Galveston boasts some of the oldest buildings in Texas. There are plenty of restaurants and bars downtown. The regional specialities include Tex-Mex, Cajun, and of course traditional Texas cuisine. Seafood plays a large part given the proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. The downtown area also serves as a stop off point for many Caribbean cruises.

Outside of Galveston, there are a couple of parks that may be of interest. Driving along the Gulf Coast, Galveston Island State Park can be reached in 25 mins. About 45 mins away, Brazoria Wildlife Refuge is home to many types of birds and alligators! Houston's famous space center is about 40 mins away by car. There is an outlet mall (Tanger Outlets) about 20 mins away on the I45. It offers many designer clothes brands at very competitive prices.
