World Wide Fundamental Power Coupler meeting #1
The following topics will be discussed:
- Design: maximum power per coupler ? multi coupler per cavity ?
- Construction: choice of material and of techniques of construction, coating
- Series production: fabrication, cleaning, handling and assembly
- Series production by industrials: modification of the processes, industrial alternative proposals, ...
- Cleaning and assembly: which clean room is really needed ? For FPC alone? For FPC onto cavity?
- Tests: prototype processes versus series processes, RF test boxes, amplifiers for tests
- Statistics of couplers operated in accelerators
- Diagnostics during R&D and prototyping, versus diagnostics during operation in accelerators
- Degradation of characteristic over time of operation
As a conclusion we all together define/allocate several 'R&D' topics that we can share in order to help each other.
For example, topic X to A, topic Y to B, topic Z to C, etc... and then we all together benefit of results next year during the next WWFPC meeting.
All of us could for example list all points of R&D he is already working on, and on which he would be interested of having some R&D results.
Quality acceptance criteria for the couplers
RF surface roughness (scratches, brushed surface, glass bead blasting)
Influence of oxides on RF surfaces on operating performance
Judging on stains and discolorations on RF surfaces
Discolorations on ceramic windows, how to avoid, to analyze, to clean, before and after RF conditioning and operating
