Miscellaneous information

Weather forecast for the conference week is mixed, sunny and showers, 13-15 degrees celsius.

Currency conversion is roughly 1 Euro = 9.5 NOK. 1 USD = 8.5 NOK.

There is no ATM on campus. ATMs are available in the town center.  Lunches and coffee are provided free of charge, as part of the conference fee.

The cafeteria is open until 3.30pm for purchase of snacks and soft drinks. They may not accept all foreign cards.

Norway has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Stavanger is absolutely safe, everywhere.

It is completely safe to drink water directly from the watertap (unless it explicitly says not to, which is rare).

All talks, coffee, lunch are in the same building, Arne Rettedals Hus. External doors are locked at 6.30pm. Reentry later is then only possible by using an employee card; you may exit at any time. The alarm goes on at 11pm, by which time the building must be vacated.

You may use your own laptop for your presentations. However, please bring a .pdf backup in case of technical trouble. If possible, you may want to visit the relevant auditorium and test things out with the local hardware during a break/prior to your talk.

All Norwegians speak English and are happy to. Feel free to ask for directions and help.

A dedicated phone number has been created for emergencies: +47 98307834. A member of the organising committee will be on call. One may also dial 112 for police and 113 for ambulance.

Please also use contact@sewm2016.org for less urgent enquiries.
