On Chania, Crete  

The Workshop and Public Events will be hosted in historic buildings at the old Venetian harbour of the city of Chania, which is one of the oldest cities in Greece and has a rich history of cultural diversity. Its architecture reveals the Minoan civilization (ca. 1500 BC), the Arab occupation (823-961 AD), the Byzantine period (961-1252), the Venetian occupation (1252-1645) and the Turkish occupation (1645-1897). The Great Arsenali, Chania
 

The Great Arsenali was built in 1595, one of seventeen dockyards, and is among the few still standing. Over the years the building has served as a customs office (early 1800s), a school (1872), a theater (1892), a hospital (1923-1928) and the mayor's hall (1928-1941). Nowadays, it houses the Center of Mediterranean Architecture (in Greek, KAM) and hosts exhibitions and conferences.

Neorio Moro is one of the three shipyards that were constructed in the early of 16th century in the eastern cove of the Venetian port of Chania.

It takes its name from the General Intendant Moro who suggests the building of these tree shipyards. In their original form the dockyards were open to the sea side, which seeped inside them to a point to be able to haul the vessel for repair. Of the total of 3 shipyards completed only two, and in the third built the walls, until the beginning of the roof. Later, in the third shipyard accommodated with simple roof, which collapsed from the bombing of 1941. Today the town of Chania have in their disposal one Neorio remade, and is used by the sailing club of Chania and operate as a multipurpose exhibition and coffee.

The Technical University of Crete is a state university founded in 1977 in Chania, Crete. The first students were admitted in 1984. The campus is located on a panoramic site in the peninsula of Maelehas (ancient Keamon, also known as" Akrotiri) and covers an area of 750 acres (3.0 km2), 7 km Northeast of Chania. The purpose of the institution is to conduct research, to provide under-graduate and graduate educational programs in modern engineering fields as well as to develop links with the Greek industry.

The Technical University of Crete ranks highly among the Greek technical universities in terms of research productivity, research funding, scientific publications and citation per faculty member. In addition, the Technical University of Crete is among the first and top Greek institution with the highest rate of research publications per faculty member.
