Workshop Excursion
The Workshop Excursion takes place on 27 August (9:30 - 15:30).
Destination: Samaria Canyon, Omalos Plateau and Botanical Park & Gardens of Crete
Price per person: 40 EUR
Omalos and viewpoint of Samaria gorge: Omalos Plateau at White Mountains range is one of the great plateaux of Crete. An irregular circle, a polje (a large, flat plain found in limestone karst regions), of some 6 sq km, at an altitude of around 1100 m, it is surrounded by several peaks of varying height (from 1300 to 2100 m).
Below the north entrance, lower than the plain, is the cave of Zane (1050 m). Here it is believed collects the water the plain does not absorb. Local legend has it that there can be heard the music of a shepherd, ensnared by the nymphs.
Omalos played a major role in the insurrections against the Turks: it made an ideal refuge and base for the Cretan rebels.

Botanical Park: the Greek flora is represented in abundance in Mediterranean fruit trees garden, Mediterranean aromatic herbs and endemic plants of Crete garden, Citrus garden, Tropical garden, Vineyards and the Cherry Tree garden.
