ALERT 2019 workshop
Ioannina, Greece
The 3rd Topical Workshop on Advanced Low Emittance Rings Technology 2019 (ALERT 2019) will be hosted at Epirus Palace Hotel in Ioannina (Greece) on the on the 10th to 12th July 2019, as a sub-series of Ring for Low Emittance (RULε) work-package, within the EU funded ARIES programme (Accelerator Research and Innovation for European Science and Society).
The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts from the scientific community working on Advanced Technologies for ultra-low emittance machines, including light source storage rings, damping rings, and future e+/e- circular colliders.
Ultra-low emittance rings are underpinned by a number of technological advances in magnets, vacuum, diagnostics, and accelerator physics that are all related to the construction and operation of rings with small apertures. The theme of “small aperture rings” will be the focus of the workshop.
The workshop plans to discuss the challenges in different subsystems associated to small apertures, highlighting the issues, the solutions proposed, the relative R&D needs, fostering links with the laboratories and industrial partners interested in sustaining such R&D in EU and beyond.
The workshop will tentatively comprise five sections
- Magnets with small apertures
- Vacuum systems with small apertures
- Impedance issues
- R&D
- Report and summaries
