Vienna's well-known music venues (Staatsoper, Volksoper, Musikverein, Konzerthaus) are on summer recess from July until August, which means that, unfortunately, you won't be able to see any strings playing in these venues. Nevertheless, some concerts will take place as part of the summer festivals mentioned above. Of course, you can always visit the houses of all the famous composers that lived and worked in Vienna: Mozarthaus; the various houses of Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert, and Strauss; Arnold Schönberg-Center.
For a typical Viennese experience, consider a trip to the Zentralfriedhof, Vienna's main cemetery (conveniently accessible from the city center by tram line 71), to visit the graves of Vienna's famous citizens.
