Notes for Jan-25-2017 Stave QA meeting
Carlos and Boping
- Discussion of preliminary data with the simple support bending test. There is a defect in that they noted in the test. It was noted that there is a possibility that we could make use of the bending experiment to test the defects.
- Things to Do-
- Close up scans/images of defects
- Scan end of stave card.
- 3 runs of simple stave support
Roy
- A plate is currently in production for a 2mm rise for calibration that should be there in the afternoon
- 3D printer that was utilized to make stave support parts had 120 um resolution. It was noted that there are options for printing that include both dense and porous configurations that brought up concern of precision for future use
- Ideas for a camera raising block were discussed to either have a device to raise the entire mount versus raising just the laser
- Deep throat micrometer was looked at for measuring thickness. It was noted that it is around $300 for an average one, however that style will not reach the center of the stave. Roy will continue looking at devices
Jie and Will
- Discussion of preliminary data with camera mounting and reinstallation was given. It was shown that camera mounting does have a significant impact on the alignment of the image, whereas the reinstallation of the stave does not. A camera alignment system was proposed to eliminate the problem.
- Things to Do-
- Camera mounting test-Fit lines to compare and get slope with offset
- When mounting current stave in device make certain to center it.
Soeren
- Laser Scanning- do a measurement with suspension while pressurized.
- Discussion about changing the support structure to C-beam support so that defects on the bottom do not effect scans
- In the future there are plans to make a better support structure for transport
- Future staves will have similar pressurization system to original small stave design
- The end of stave card will have a different structure, probably be filled with stave foam around pipes
- Resistance measurements should be verified again
- Find temperature profile of flawless stave checking the input vs output temperatures of the stave.
- We will be receiving Core-2R which will be similar to the previous flawed stave with different sized defects to help characterize them.
- Damaged flawless stave will be sent back on Friday for repairs
Major Notes
- A general nomenclature for the staves should be found or created so that we stop being confused.
- Plots should be made in terms of mm
