Impact / Quotes

The impact of the programme on students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders was considerable! This is best shown through the quotes collected in the survey.

The experience C2B at CERN with IPPOG changed the view and the opinion of all participants on what CERN and science does for the society.

Now they all know that:

  • Science is present in our everyday lives, more than I was aware off.
  •  World can get inspiration from scientists also in terms of peaceful global collaboration, which can be mapped on collaborative efforts towards all SDGs.
  • Science, and basic research are drivers of technologies and innovations, which are necessary for meeting the SDGs.
  • STEM education is relevant for sustainable development.

Majority of students now feel like true ambassadors for science and are excited to help promoting science in their future lives and careers. This is important, especially as most of them are not interested to pursue scientific studies “I am not interested in studying science but I am still keen to be an ambassador.” Simply by talking to their closest environment they already make a difference: “I talked a lot to my parents after the event and certainly shared new ideas about science.” stated one of the students.
