Attendance is limited to 60 students.

Attendance at the school is for the entire programme; it is not possible to register or follow one track only.

How to apply

The deadline for application is Friday 10 May 2019. All applications will then be subject to a selection process, according to the number of places available. Applicants will be informed by 7 June if they are successful.

Candidates should ensure that they have, by Friday 10 May 2019:

  • completed the Registration Form online,
  • uploaded a signed formal letter of reference (on formal headed paper from the applicant's institute/organization) from their professor or supervisor.

The formal letter of reference must be received by the School (whether uploaded or emailed) by 10 May 2019 at the latest.

If no letter is included, the application will be considered void and discarded from the selection process. It is your responsibility to ensure we receive it.

If your professor or supervisor does not wish to provide you with a letter directly, s/he can email us your letter of reference instead. This should be sent directly to Computing.School@cern.ch, with the subject: Reference Letter CSC 2019: [name of applicant]

Selection of participants

The selection of the participants will be made by the School Advisory Committee. Applicants will be informed of the outcome by 7 June 2019.

Accepted applicants will receive an Invitation Letter from the School.

Payment of the School fee will confirm your place, at which point you will be considered a participant.

CSC Diploma

Students who have successfully passed the (optional) final examination and followed the entire programme will receive a diploma from CSC and UBB, UPB. It will be presented at the closing session.

Students who followed the entire programme but did not successfully pass (or did not take) the final exam will receive a certificate of attendance.

The working language of the School (including for all exercises) will be English. As a participant, you must therefore have attained a sufficient level of English prior to the School commencing in order to follow effectively the tuition and be in a position to fully contribute.

Cancellation

If, for any reason, you are unable to take up your place at the School, you must inform the School Administration immediately by email (Computing.School@cern.ch).

If you have already paid your participation fee, the School will give you a full refund so long as a suitable replacement participant can be found (NB: responsibility for identifying and inviting a potential replacement participant rests with the CERN, as the organiser of the School, and not with the individual participant or his/her institute).
