Transport to Karpacz

A bus transfer to Karpacz will be organized for participants. It will leave from the Institute of Theoretical Physics at Plac M. Borna 9, 50-204 Wrocław, on February 23th 2020 at 5:00  p.m. The estimated travel time to Karpacz is 2 1/2 hours. On February 29th a return bus to Wrocław will be available. It will leave after around 11:00 o'clock a.m.

 

Arriving at Wrocław 

by plane:

The Copernicus Airport is the major airport of the city Wrocław.

Wrocław airport is well-connected to major European cities: Polish LOT flies from Warsaw to Wrocław every couple of hours providing an easy connection via Warsaw. In addition, there are direct daily flights from Frankfurt-Main, London, Munich, Paris, Copenhagen, Milan, Brussels, and some other European cities. The low-cost airlines Ryanair, Eurowings, and Wizzair serve Wrocław airport.

The city center can be reached from the airport by

  • Taxi  (60 PLN ~ 15 €)
  • Public transportation.  Take bus No. 106 (direction "Dworcowa") and get off at the stop  "pl. Orląt Lwowskich" stop; change to Bus 144 (direction "Polanowice" or tram OP and get off at the stop "Domowskiego". Tickets may be purchased in ticket machines (biletomat) located at bus stops or onboard tram/bus using debit or credit card. A single-ride ticket is 3 PLN (~ 0.75 €) valid for 30 minutes.
  • Alternatively, you can take the bus "Airport Express" for 10 PLN to the Main Bus Station "Dworzec Adutobusowy", walk to the main railway station (Wrocław Główny)  and take the tram OP, see the next paragraph below for further details.

by train and bus:

The central train station (Wrocław Główny) is located in the city center.  The train station is well connected with all parts of the city. Many bus and tram stops are located close to the train station.

To get to the Institute of Theoretical Physics (Pl. M. Borna 9): take tram OP (direction "Dworzec Nadodrze") and leave at the "Dmowskiego" stop; turn to the right and walk across the bridge, turn right again after the bridge and you are facing the building of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, where the Institute of Theoretical Physics is located at the 4th floor.

by car:

Wrocław is located at the highway A4, which connects the city to Katowice/Cracow/Opole to the east and Legnica/Zgorzelec and Dresden in Germany to the west. It is also connected to the national roads: 5 Poznań, 8 Kłodzko/Prague/Warsaw, 35 Jelenia Góra, 94 Oława/Zielona Góra.
