27 August Friday

Excursion to Chania 15:00-23:00

There will be

- no dinner offered in OAC, Friday 27 August.

The participants staying in OAC will receive back 10 EUR per person per meal for the dinner of Friday 27 August.

Please take with you:

- Passport, Certificate of vaccination for covid19, hat, suncreme and sunglasses and comfortable walking shoes. 

Please see below the program of the excursion. You can join any of the events mentioned below if you like and/or take your free time. 

14:45 Departure of bus from hotels towards OAC, arrival in OAC 14:55.

15:00 Departure from OAC with bus to Chania 

16:00 Meet the guide in the Synagogue of Chania for:

1) visit of the synagogue Etz Hayyim and short (15') historic talk (in english) about history of jews in Greece by Anja Zuckmantel.

2) performance of Kalliopi Petrou (soprano) and Tommaso Dorigo (flute) in the garden of the Synagogue of Chania (15'). 

3) visit of the jewish quarter ("evraiki") of the old town of Chania with a guide (Anja Zuckmantel) (20').

17:45 Meet the guide in the Orthodox Cathedral of Chania for visiting the cathedral, the old town and port, the castle and the Phare of Chania (ca. 1 hour).

20:00 Dinner in Chania (participants are free to choose their dinner place and time and pay their dinner at their own. The participants staying in OAC will receive back 10 EUR per person per meal for the dinner of Friday 27 August and lunch of Saturday 28 August.)

22:30 and 23:00 Bus departures from Chania to Kolymbari, to hotels and OAC.

Participants that would like to leave earlier or later from Chania and will use public bus transport or taxi should please informe organizers per email to icnfp2021@gmail.com.

Please remember : curfew 1:00-6:00 a.m. holds in Chania region. 

If you are not on time to join the bus departures you are kindly asked to arrange by yourself your transport. 


28 August Saturday

There will be

- no lunch offered in OAC on Saturday 28 August 

The participants staying in OAC will receive back 10 EUR per person per meal for the lunch of Saturday 28 August.

This is a free day. We will post soon under "Materials" (in the ICNFP 2021 main webpage) informations about possibility to take the boat for an excursion to Balos and Gramvousa and with lunch in the boat. Participants are expected to organize the day at their own. 

18:45-19:00 Refreshing drinks (in OAC outside Room 1).

19:00-19:30 History of Crete by Dr Emmanouil Chalkiadakis in english language (30 min). See the CV of Dr Chalkiadakis under "Materials " in the main ICNFP homepage.

19:30-20:00 Sacred Music Concert, in OAC, Room 1, Kalliopi Petrou (soprano), accompanied by Tomaso Dorigo (Flute). 

29 August Sunday
Conference Excursion

There will be

- no lunch offered in OAC on Sunday 29 August. 

The participants staying in OAC will receive back 10 EUR per person per meal for the lunch of Sunday 29 August.

Please take with you:

- Passport, Certificate of vaccination for covid19 (if you have), hat, suncreme and sunglasses, swimming suite, towel for sea, and comfortable walking shoes.

There are 3 excursions : 1) Monasteries, 2) Falasarna beach 3) Knossos+Herakleion. See details below.

1) Excursion to Monasteries:

The bus starts from OAC at 5:50 and goes through stops in the hotels (those of every-day bus) and goes to Metamorphosis Monastery in Chania.


5:50 – BUS from OAC to Metamorphosis Monastery in Chania
►part of the liturgy

►light breakfast

►tour through the monastery and visit of the shop with paintings, self produced organic olive oil and soap, books published in many languages by the Monastery etc
 
10:30 - 11:30 – Agia Kyriaki Monastery (walking tour) with a visit to many small cave churches on the way

11:30 – leaving Agia Kyriaki Monastery

12:00 – arrival to Chrysopigi Monastery
►tour through the monastery, visit of the museum
►lunch in Chrysopigi Monasteri

14:30 – bus leaving for OAC with arrival to OAC at  15:00

2) Excursion to Falasarna beach:

10:45  Bus will pass from the hotels and will be in OAC 10:55. 

11:00 Departure from OAC to Falasarna.

Lunch in Falasarna beach (paid by the conference).

17:00 Departure from Falasarna beach to OAC and hotels

3) Knossos and Museum of Herakleion

6:45 Departure of Bus from hotels, arriving to OAC 6:55.

7:00 Departure from OAC to Knossos.

10:00 - 11:00 Visit of Knossos with guides.

11:00 - 11:30 transfer to Museum of Herakleion

11:30 - 13:00 Visit of Museum of Herakleion or shopping in the surrounding area.

Please be prepared that it may not be possible to everyone to visit the museum within this time window, due to the covid19 restrictions of the number of persons that enter and the very long queues (due to covid19 restrictions). 

Participants interested to wait for hours in order to enter the Museum may stay in Herakleion and come back with public bus Herakleion-Chania and Chania-Kolymbari. (In that case please watch out for the curfew 1:00-6:00 a.m.).The conference bus will depart in the planed time even if not everyone is back.

The entrance to the Museum is allowed only to people with vaccination certificate or those that hold a rapid covid19 test (that you should do a day before).

We advice that for this year you skip the Museum, unless you will get the chance to enter in the Museum in the first 20 minutes.

13:00 Departure of bus to taverna

13:15 - 15:00 lunch in taverna (paid by the conference)

15:00 Departure to hotels and OAC (arrival 18:00).
