Airports
There are two airports in Northern Taiwan: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Airport Code: TPE) and Taipei Songshan Airport (Airport Code: TSA). Most international flights land in TPE which is situated 40km (24.8 miles) southwest of Taipei. TSA is a domestic airport in Taipei downtown but now it has flights between Mainland China, Japan and Korea.

Participants arriving at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) have several convenient options to reach downtown Taipei, including the Taoyuan Airport MRT, buses, and taxis.

Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA)
Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) is conveniently located in the heart of Taipei, offering several transportation options to the city center.
MRT (Mass Rapid Transit):
- Songshan Airport Station: Directly connected to the airport, this station is on the Wenhu (Brown) Line.
- Route: Take the Wenhu Line from Songshan Airport Station to Taipei Main Station.
- Duration: Approximately 10 minutes.
- Fare: Around TWD 20.
Bus:
- Bus Stops: Located outside the airport terminals.
- Routes: Several buses connect the airport to various parts of Taipei, including Taipei Main Station and other districts.
- Duration: Varies depending on the route and traffic conditions, typically 30-45 minutes.
- Fare: Ranges from TWD 15 to TWD 30.
Taxi:
- Taxi Stands: Available outside the airport terminals.
- Duration: Approximately 15-20 minutes to Taipei Main Station, depending on traffic.
- Fare: Around TWD 200 to TWD 300.

Public Bus
The Taipei Joint Bus System includes general routes, trunk routes, MRT shuttles, mountain buses, recreational buses, and small buses.
The bus fare of the Taipei Joint Bus System is based on sections (fare zones). For 2-or-more-section routes, the additional sectional fare is charged at place of alighting if the trip crosses the interaction point (or buffering zone).
Bus fare is paid in cash or with contactless smart cards on board.
- Coin:
One-segment ticket, regular NT$15; Two-segment ticket, regular NT$30. The bus driver will notify you if you need to pay more for a Two or Three-segment ticket. Be sure to have the exact ticket amount as buses will not give change. - Electronic payment:
Just lightly swipe your card over the sensor zone, and payment is automatically completed with the beeping of the reader

Easycard The Taipei Easycard allows passengers to conveniently ride the Taipei MRT, bus systems, or rent the YouBike without the need to constantly search for loose change. The convenience stores and supermarkets also accept the Easycard for payment. Easycard can be purchased at MRT stations and convenience stores generally for NT$100, with the exception of limited issue cards with special designs which will be more expensive. Card are issued with no balance, so be sure to recharge the card with some credit after purchase. All credit can be later refunded at MRT stations. |
