In addition to nearby highlights, here are a few recommended spots worth visiting during your stay:

  • Taipei 101
    Once the world’s tallest building — the observation deck offers panoramic views, and the surrounding area includes shopping and dining options. (MRT Red Line to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station)

  • Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
    A national monument and beautiful public plaza with changing of the guard ceremonies. (MRT Red/Green Line to CKS Memorial Hall Station)

  • National Palace Museum
    Holds one of the world’s most important collections of Chinese imperial artifacts. Plan a couple of hours to explore. (Bus R30 or 255 from MRT Shilin Station)

  • Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan)
    A short but steep hike with the best sunset views of Taipei. (MRT Red Line to Xiangshan Station)

  • Longshan Temple & Bopiliao Historical Block
    Historic and spiritual sites in Wanhua District. (MRT Blue Line to Longshan Temple Station)

Day-trip Accessible Sites (via MRT or Public Transport):

  • Tamsui Old Street & Fisherman's Wharf
    Located along the Tamsui River, this charming district offers riverside walks, seafood, street snacks, and beautiful sunsets. (MRT Red Line to Tamsui Station)

  • Beitou Hot Springs & Thermal Valley
    A perfect place to relax in natural hot springs and explore Japanese-era bathhouses and the Hot Springs Museum. (MRT Red Line to Beitou, transfer to XinBeitou Branch Line)

  • Maokong Gondola & Tea Plantations
    A scenic cable car ride takes you to Taipei’s tea-growing hills. Enjoy local oolong tea and views of the city and mountains. (MRT Brown Line to Taipei Zoo, then transfer to Maokong Gondola)

  • Yehliu Geopark (around 1 hr by bus)
    While not within MRT reach, it’s a popular natural attraction known for stunning rock formations. Accessible via direct tourist bus from Taipei Main Station or Kuo-Kuang Bus Terminal.
