Description
SuperKEKB is an electron—positron collider that employs the nano-beam scheme together with the crab-waist scheme to achieve the world’s highest luminosity for the production of B-meson pairs. SuperKEKB accomplished a peak luminosity of 5.1e34 cm^-2s^-1 in 2024. However, as a luminosity-frontier machine, SuperKEKB has faced several challenges, including an extremely short beam lifetime due to a small dynamic aperture, impedance effects, beam-beam blow-up, and unexpected, rapid, significant beam losses known as Sudden Beam Loss (SBL). In particular, the mechanism of Sudden Beam Loss has been largely clarified following the first long shutdown (LS1), which ran from July 2022 to January 2024. Recent progress in beam commissioning during 2025 — 2026 will be presented, and the remaining problems and issues to be addressed for future improvements in luminosity performance will be discussed.
