Description

We present new results on the search for Higgs boson pair production in the 4b final state using LHC Run 3 data, equivalent of 62 fb-1, collected in 2022 and 2023 by the CMS detector. The analysis focuses on the resolved topology, where both Higgs bosons are reconstructed as a pair of small-radius jets. The analysis includes significant improvements in the trigger selection, heavy-flavor tagging, and analysis techniques, mainly in the signal-to-background discrimination and background estimation. An observed (expected) upper limit is set on the HH production cross section at 95% CL of 5.0 (6.1) times the standard model prediction. In addition to the HH production, this analysis targets the ZZ and ZH processes in the 4b final state - standard candles in the search for HH production. These developments significantly improve the sensitivity for HH → 4b compared to Run 2 and achieve comparable sensitivity for ZZ and ZH with only half the luminosity.
