Description
Rare Higgs boson decays provide a unique window on the electroweak symmetry breaking and on potential effects beyond the standard model. The decay H→Zγ, one of the rarest accessible at the LHC, has not yet been observed. This channel is particularly sensitive to new physics, as it occurs exclusively through loop-level processes, and it is uniquely coupling the Higgs boson to the two neutral electroweak bosons: these distinctive features have considerable theoretical interests. This presentation reports the results of the search for the H→Zγ decay using proton–proton collision data collected by CMS during Run 2 and the beginning of Run 3, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of approximately 200 fb-1. Through optimized event categorization and analysis techniques, the sensitivity to this decay is improved, and the results provide an updated measurement of its signal strength. These studies pave the way for future analyses that can potentially provide evidence with the complete Run 3 dataset, and observation at the High-Luminosity LHC.
