How to get there:
(Address: Marsstr. 48)

  • From Garching Forschungszentrum (about 40-50 mins)
  • Take U6 to Marienplatz
  • Change to S-Bahn towards Hauptbahnhof
  • Exit at Hackerbrücke
  • Follow the map

Olympic Park, Munich

Afterwards we invite you for a walk in the Munich Olympic Park, which hosted 1972 Summer Olympics. We recommend visiting the Olympic Stadium and offer a common tour at 18:30. The design of the stadium was considered revolutionary, with sweeping canopies of acrylic glass stabilized by metal ropes.

How to get from the brewery to the park (about 40 mins)

  • Return to S-Bahn Hackerbrücke
  • Take S-Bahn towards Ostbahnhof
  • Change at Marienplatz to U3 towards Moosach/Olympiazentrum
  • Exit at Olympiazentrum

Additionally, you may visit a BMW World - an exhibition centre and a showroom, located near the BMW headquarters. Enjoy the current model line-up of BMW cars and motorcycles and the other two BMW Group brands, Mini and Rolls-Royce. Please note that cars are not included in the conference fee.

You may also enjoy a ride on the Park railway (3.50 EUR)

Arrival/departure: from the Olympic Tower and the BMW Welt

Duration: ~20 mins

Departure: every ~30 mins

Collaboration Dinner:

Wednesday, 19:30, Olympiaturm, Restaurant 181

The conference dinner will take place in a Restaurant 181, located 181m above the ground in the Olympic Tower. The Olympic Tower itself was build between 1965 and 1968. It is 291.28 m high and weights 52'200 tons. It is located in the middle of the Olympic Park.

There are 5 levels in the tower. The lowest one at 178 m is for maintenance only. The first public floor at 181 m and a diameter of 28.3 m is the restaurant. The following two levels at 185 m and 189 m are observation decks where the second one is a open air platform. The last level at 192 m is closed to public.

The dinner includes entrance to the observation decks that can be visited before, during and after the banquet. The tickets are already reserved and can be picked up at the check-in of the restaurant at the right side of the entrance to the tower (password: “TU München”)

The elevator to the public areas goes with a velocity of 7 m/s so the journey to the top takes 30 seconds. The restaurant is rotating with a time of circulation of 49 to 70 minutes, depending on the wind velocity. This gives a frequency between 0.24 and 0.34 mHz.

The plot below shows the centrifugal force depending on the radius for different circulation times. A spherical human with a mass of 80 kg in vacuum was assumed for the calculations.
