Description
This Workshop is one more RD51 dissemination event, organized according to the Collaboration tradition, which has promoted topical Workshops, Schools, Academy-Industry Matching events.
The focus of the present Workshop is on the contributions that gaseous detectors offer to particle identification challenges, a key ingredient in hadron and flavour physics, where gaseous detectors are providing central assistance. More extended use of PID counters at colliders is desirable: further progress in the field is needed to facilitate a broader use.
The items discussed include:
• Gaseous detectors of single photoelectrons in Cherenkov imaging devices
• Transition radiation detectors
• Fine time resolution opportunities with gaseous detectors for TOF measurements
• dE/dx measurements with the classical approach and cluster counting.
