Description

NUSES is a new space mission project promoted by the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space and the italian Istituto Nazionale Fisica Nucleare (INFN). The NUSES satellite will host two payloads, Terzina and Zirè, aiming to explore new technological and observational approaches in the study of cosmic radiation spanning from very low to high energies. Terzina will be devoted to the detection of very high energy CRs and astrophysical neutrinos looking at the Cherenkov light emitted by extensive showers in the atmosphere. On the other hand, Zirè will study the spectra of low energy electrons, protons and nuclei below hundreds of MeV and test new techniques for gamma astronomy at MeV energies. In this work, we present the status of the NUSES project design and the scientific and technological objectives of the mission.
