      Discussion topics

      • Agreement on the feature set and the development timeline esp. which features need to be ready by end of 2024
      • Experiment liaison persons to provide us one or a few experiment tasks that we should use for the large-scale validation (in addition to the Analysis Grand Challenge).
      • Terms of the interface review planned to be conducted by CCE
      • Meta-data support
      • I/O for SOA data structures.
      • Review of the use of low-precision floats (Float16_t etc): are the ROOT provided mechanisms matching experiments needs
      • Support for object stores, esp. DAOS

Feature mismatch between TTree and RNTuple:

      • Dynamic polymorphism
      • Raw pointers and networks thereof
      • TRef
      • TTree::Draw
Convener: Peter Van Gemmeren (Argonne National Laboratory (US))
      • 15:30
Introduction what is CCE and what are the plans for CCE2 20m

Kick Off: Mandate CCE for the interface review 20m
Speakers: Jakob Blomer (CERN), Peter Van Gemmeren (Argonne National Laboratory (US)), Philippe Canal (Fermi National Accelerator Lab. (US))
      • 16:30
Discussion: Key Questions, Experiment Liaison 20m

        1) What do the experiments expect to see / get done in ROOT in order to entrust their data to RNTuple?
        2) What is the experiment schedule for the RNTuple deployment once RNTuple 1.0 is there?
        3) To what degree is ROOT supporting TTree writing after RNTuple is deployed?

Identify experiment liaison persons to provide us one or a few experiment tasks that we should use for the large-scale validation (in addition to the Analysis Grand Challenge).

Speakers: Jakob Blomer (CERN), Peter Van Gemmeren (Argonne National Laboratory (US)), Philippe Canal (Fermi National Accelerator Lab. (US))
