Note that attendence is by invitation only. The aims are: Work towards a broad agreement among the machine and experiments on an "optimistic" and a "pessimistic" scenario to define the range of likely: - timescales for machine upgrades and evolution of peak and integrated lumi. - likely timing and duration of shutdowns needed by machine and experiments to install upgrades Continue process of bringing committee up to speed with principle lines of investigation and the main issues Begin process of defining in more concrete terms the future review by LHCC of upgrades and R&D E.g., - Timescales for LoI, MOU, TDR, etc. - Should we make upgrades a "major" topic of activity (alongside the four major experiments and LCG)? Start to build a list of informed "contact persons" from each major constituency for the purposes of future discussions/reviews. We expect this to be the first in a series of approximately six-monthly one-day meetings to be conducted by the LHCC in this area. (This is currently about the frequency with which the LHCC conducts "mini-reviews" of the LHC experiments and the LCG.) Whilst the focus of this first meeting will be on the challenges that high luminosity and radiation levels place on the general purpose detectors, future meetings will address also the special challenges that face the ALICE and LHCb experiments.
