Description

Following the success of the inaugural LPC EFT Workshop, we are excited to host a tutorial, hackathon, and workshop event the week of April 22-26 at Notre Dame University. The workshop will include ample time for discussion centered around resolving outstanding practical questions towards performing large-scale EFT combinations within an experiment. Prior to the workshop, an introductory EFT tutorial and hackathon will be held. The 1-day tutorial will introduce EFT concepts and practical tools. For the 2-day hackathon: bring a proposal for a sample to generate, and leave with plots!

The workshop will be offered in a hybrid mode, however we ask that hackathon attendees be present in person.

SMEFT probes with LHC Drell-Yan data 20m

We discuss several opportunities for probing new physics in the SMEFT framework using LHC Drell-Yan data. We consider the forward-backward asymmetry, the lepton-pair transverse momentum, and the Collins-Soper angles, and show that this full spectrum of measurements can probe unexplored sectors of the SMEFT and can help distinguish between ultraviolet completions of the SMEFT. We present several challenges that arise in the comparison of theory with experimental data.
