Social programme

The social programme contains the following events:

  • A welcome reception on Sunday evening. This event will take place at the Aula, the first building of Ghent University. The Aula was inaugurated in 1826 and the facade is still used as logo of the institute. For two hundred years, the Aula has been a true eye-catcher for, and the of the Ghent University. Situated in the very core of the historical center of Ghent, it is an irreplaceable part of the city's landscape with a genuine academic athmosphere.
  • Hospitality Tour and boat trip on Monday evening. During this event, you will not only learn more about Ghent and its culture and history, but also get acquainted with the city centre. This tour will be combined with a boat trip, which is an absolute 'must' in Ghent. Water plays a key role in the city and a boat trip allows you to see the city from a different angle.
  • On Wednesday evening, the traditional conference dinner will be held. This will take place at Thagaste Augustijnen Monastery, one of the many historical buildings the city has to offer. Thagaste is set in the unique location of a historic monastery where Augustinian monks still live and work. The monastery hosts a range of large and small meeting rooms, remarkable art treasures, a beautiful inner courtyard, a historic library and a Baroque church. The monastery has its own beer and the chef will use it in the conference dinner.
