High Field Accelerator Magnets - Roadmap Preparation Workshop 1 and 3 June 2021
ZOOM
Workshop on High Field Accelerator Magnets - Roadmap Preparation June 1 and 3, 2021
Following the Workshop on the State-of-the-Art in High Field Accelerator Magnets (HFM)[1], focused on the identification of challenges and crucial technologies, we wish to continue the consultation process outlined by the Laboratories Directors Group towards the creation of a shared R&D roadmap towards the high field magnets of the next generation.
To this aim, we wish to convene a follow-up workshop on “High Field Accelerator Magnets - Roadmap Preparation” to take place virtually on June 1 and 3, 2021. Our intention for this event is to focus the contributions and discussion along the following two main lines: (i) topical and comprehensive reviews of selected technical subjects, providing a prioritized development outlook with objectives over a five to ten years horizon, and (ii) presentation of institutional views, with a description of the development vision and the strategic position towards a high-field magnet program proposal.
The contributions are intended to cover all aspects of superconducting accelerator magnet science, from conductors to magnets, LTS and HTS, and associated technologies. Participation will be extended to all main actors in the field, worldwide, to ensure a comprehensive view.
The presentations will be documented in the form of short written contributions, produced by the presenters and contributors, and edited in the form of proceedings. Together with the companion papers on the state-of-the-art, these proceedings will form the community basis for the formulation of the shared R&D roadmap quoted earlier.
