The ISOTDAQ 2018 is the 9th of a series of International Schools dedicated to introduce persons with an education in physics, engineering or computing (ranging from undergrads to postdocs) to the "arts and crafts" of triggering and acquiring data for physics experiments. The main aim of the school is to provide an overview of the basic instruments and methodologies used in high energy physics, spanning from small experiments in the lab to the very large LHC experiments, emphasizing the main building blocks as well as the different choices and architectures at different levels of complexity. About half of the school time will be dedicated to laboratory exercises where the students are exposed to most of the techniques described in the lectures.

Since places are limited, acceptance to the school is by a selection committee. Apply here.

The 9th International School of Trigger and Data Acquisition will be held in the Electrical Engineering Building of the University of Technology in Vienna, Austria. Lectures, the hands on exercises and coffee breaks will be held in the Institute.

Accommodation is within walking distance in the hotel Kolpinghaus.

MedAustron in Wiener Neustadt is one of the most cutting-edge centres for ion-beam therapy and research in Europe. Besides clinical research, the synchrotron-based centre also offers opportunities for non-clinical research activities, especially in medical radiation physics, radiation biology, and experimental physics. Worldwide, there are only three other centres like MedAustron that offer radiation therapy with both protons and carbon ions in one place.

The Dinner takes place at a "Heuriger", a typical Austrian wine tavern. The one we visit is called 10er-Marie and it is in fact the oldest one in Vienna which is still in use, dating back to 1740 - the year when famous Habsburg queen Maria Theresia entered the throne.
