We are happy to welcome the SMARTHEP Early Stage Researchers (ESR), their supervisors, our partners and collaborators to the 2023 Annual Meeting for the SMARTHEP programme taking place at Lund University.
The goal of this event is to hear how the ESR's are getting on with their respective projects and plan the activities for the coming year, including secondment plans. The first three days of the meeting will be dedicated to ESRs and supervisors with a round table and a Network Assembly. The rest of the week will focus on training for the ESRs.
Logistics information can be found on the left-hand side of the menu, and for further information feel free to contact the SMARTHEP Coordinator and the Project Manager, Andrew Carey.
In this session, we will go through all ESR presentations and other ESRs / PIs / advisory board members will give some constructive feedback on what stood out and what could be improved. Each ESR will receive about 5 minutes of feedback.
ESRs will also be able to add their questions to sli.do beforehand at this link (https://app.sli.do/event/gLTDDxmQKMzbF9EGNheVGx, can be anonymous) and we will go through them together with the questions in the room.
ML whitepaper
Hybrid architecture whitepaper
Trigger whitepaper
This session is there to make some collaborative progress together, pick a whitepaper to look at / work on to finalise the outstanding items for circulation to the collaborations and for public consumption.
There will also be a group of PIs (with Caterina) who will draft e-mails to the collaborations to make sure the scope is clear and it isn't trying to substitute any other collaboration efforts.
In this slot, we will discuss secondments in small groups, connecting PIs with . Those who don't have a pressing secondment matter to discuss at this point can read the overall document that we will send to the Project Officer and cross-check all their details are correct.
Discussion of status / planning of the network
In this network assembly we will vote on:
- budget redistribution to Lund for current network event
In this session, the ESRs will:
choose a new member of the ESR cohort to vote in the Network Assembly representing the ESRs
discuss any issues arising during the first year of network (including feedback to coordinator and supervisors)
discuss how to vote in the network assembly
In this open discussion we will have time to bring up topics from the ESR assembly, or general ideas / concerns about how the network is running at its mid-point.
In this session, we will have time to edit together the common document from the network prior to submission to the EC.
Those are the action items as of 21/11/2023:
The ESRs are also welcome to join, contribute to the editing and learn how a scientific report for a funder like the EU is written.
