Description

The inaugural edition of the Baltic School of High-Energy Physics and Accelerator Technologies (HEP&AT) will be hosted by the Riga Technical University (RTU) and held in a sea-side camping "Ronīši" in Klapkalnciems, Latvia, approximately 50 km west of Riga.

The school will focus on the fundamental aspects of high-energy physics theory and touch on the cutting edge research currently on-going. In addition, the school will also cover both the basic principles and the current cutting edge technologies of particle accelerators, as well as their applications.

The lectures will be covered by prominent lecturers:
- Prof., Dr. Jonathan Richard Ellis

- Prof., Dr. Yuri Dokshitzer

- Prof., Dr. Matteo Cacciari

- Dr. Maurizio Vretenar

The school is organised by the CERN Baltic Group, a collaboration of nine higher education and research institutions in the Baltic states, and is supported by CERN. Furthermore, this school is supported and partially funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST), particularly by COST Action CA16201 - PARTICLEFACE.

Precise timetable, more details and registration procedures will be made available shortly.

Please note that there are no registration fees for this school, but an accommodation fee of 200 euros will be payable to complete the registration. Eligible participants can expect the cost of their travel and accommodation to be reimbursed by COST funding from CA16201 (http://particleface.eu/). In order to have the above costs reimbursed, the participants will have to register with COST and an attendance register for the school will be taken. The participants can also expect coffee breaks, one school dinner and the transfer between the location of the school and Riga central bus station to be included at no extra cost.

The accommodation at the camping will be centrally organised and successful applicants will be informed on the details for the payment of the accommodation costs in due course.

The number of places in this school is limited; in the case of high demand further accommodation and cost covering solutions will be sought. In such a case, the preference will be given to the local attendees and those who are COST funding eligible.

The registration deadline is 1pm CEST on the 25th of June

Places in this school are limited and in case of equally eligible candidates, will be allocated on the first-come-first-serve basis, so do not hesitate to apply!
