The primary goal of the annual Christmas workshop in Theoretical Physics held at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is to bring together established and young researchers, in order to present their recent research results and to stimulate scientific interaction.

Venue
The conference will take place at the Amphitheatre "Alkis Argyriadis" of the central building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, located at 30 Panepistimiou Street in central Athens. 

The venue is next to the metro station "Panepistimio". It can also be reached by buses 220, 221, 235, 608, 622, as well as trolleybuses 3 and 5.

        The thermal representation of conformal ladder integrals

        I will present details of a recently discovered representation of conformal
        four-point ladder integrals as thermal one-point functions in scalar field theories. Conformal ladder integrals can be constructed from the partition function of two
        harmonic oscillators twisted by an imaginary chemical potential. For any even
        dimension D and any loop order L they satisfy a familiar-looking second order differential equation.
        Thermal one-point functions of higher-spin operators correspond to
        linear combinations of multi-loop ladder graphs in D= 2 and D= 4 dimensions. A simple derivation for the all-loop resummation of conformal ladder integrals for arbitrary D is also given. Some possible connections if this work and recent developments in the thermal bootstrap, multiloop calculations, integrability, AdS/CFT and string theory will be mentioned.

        Hamiltonian Truncation Tensor Networks: a new numerical method for the simulation of 1+1D quantum field theory

        The classical simulation of quantum field theories is a challenging problem. We will present a new method for the study of 1+1D quantum field theory models, built upon Hamiltonian Truncation and Tensor Network techniques, which is suitable for the study of low-energy eigenstates and out-of-equilibrium dynamics. Applications of the new method to the sine-Gordon and massive Schwinger model demonstrate that, despite its relatively high computational cost compared to typical Tensor Network applications, it dramatically improves precision compared to Exact Diagonalisation-based Hamiltonian Truncation, allowing the study of non-perturbative regimes of the models’ phase diagram and of far from equilibrium dynamics after a quantum quench.
