Description
The LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) collaboration has recently approved a new Community Agreement (CA), replacing our previous Code of Conduct. The new CA was created in response to a growing awareness that a purely aspirational Code of Conduct was not sufficient to handle all the interpersonal problems that can arise inside a large collaboration. After discussions with members of several other collaborations during the Snowmass process, members of the DPF Ethics Advisory Committee, and participation in a Code of Conduct workshop at Fermilab in November 2022, an LZ task force produced a new CA. The new document has a focus on restorative justice but also includes a formal process to respond to reported violations. In this talk, I will summarize some of the discussions leading up to the new CA and provide some thoughts on its implementation so far.
