Code of Conduct

Our mission is to offer an in-person conference environment to report and discuss the results of fundamental research in particle physics, pushing forward the frontiers of human knowledge. A Code of Conduct describes the basic standards of behavior that we intentionally respect within our scientific community.

This Code of Conduct is based on the CERN’s Code of Conduct and IUPAP principles as stated in the IUPAP resolution passed by the General Assembly in 2008 and 2011. It does not duplicate or extend existing legal rights and obligations, nor is it an exhaustive list of “dos and don’ts”. It is intended to remind us how to conduct ourselves, treat others, and expect to be treated. It is designed to help us understand both our rights and our obligations.

The organizers of ICHEP2024 encourage continuous learning and development and value a proactive approach to acquiring and sharing information. We thus also encourage a culture of openness where all participants feel free to engage in a discussion about the Code of Conduct. In addition, to increase understanding of how the Code of Conduct applies to practical situations, everybody is encouraged to consult the Code of Conduct with the ICHEP2024 conduct advisors:

  • Jiří Dolejší (dolejsi@ipnp.mff.cuni.cz),
  • Zdeněk Doležal (dolezal@ipnp.mff.cuni.cz

These advisors will consult with those who have suffered from harassment, suggest ways of redressing their problems, and counsel those accused of harassment, should such situations occur. After due consideration, The conference organizers may take action they deem appropriate, including warning or expulsion from the conference.

Integrity, professionalism, and diversity form the starting point for this Code of Conduct. All of these values are equally important. Consequently, this Code should be read and interpreted as a whole.
