Description
We present searches for Lepton Flavor Violation (LFV) in the top quark sector using 138 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The analysis focuses on events containing a single muon and an additional lepton, either a tau or an electron. Modern deep learning techniques are employed to distinguish between signal and background events. The signal involves the decay of top quarks in both single top production and top quark pair production, while the background includes Standard Model processes. The results are consistent with Standard Model expectations, and new constraints on LFV in the top quark sector are established. These searches advance our understanding of nature, particularly highlighting the significance of LFV processes involving tau leptons.
